COIDA Changes

A Government Gazette 38643 published on 30th March announced an increase to the maximum earnings on which employer assessments for the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases (COIDA) are calculated. This came into effect on 1st April, and the amount has increased to R355 752 per annum. A schedule to this gazette details the manner in which compensation is calculated.

SARS Revenue Collection

Much has been made of SARS collecting 9.6% more revenue in their financial year which ended 31st March, than in the previous year. While recognition is given to various programmes which have made this possible (see here), the Payroll Association acknowledges that without Payroll Administrators this would not be possible.

Special Economic Zones

Government Notice 251 of 2015 invites public comment regarding the proposed Special Economic Zones (SEZ) regulations (see here for details). Comments should be submitted by 20th April, 2015.
